Summerquotes: what is your why?

What is your why?

Recently I read this question. Lots of people have opinions and they jump to conclusions about almost everything around them. But when do you meet someone who has a well-argued answer to the ‘why’ of his opinion?

And do you need an opinion? A few weeks ago, I announced I do not have an opinion about everything what is happening around me. And not everyone did quite understand me. I do not have an answer to all things which occur in our society. I believe that my opinion is not always worth beeing announced by me, or even heard by others. And sometimes I am so tired of all those short term opinions, that I refuse to consider any myself.

What is my why?

I don’t know, as I think the little things in life we humans are pondering about, are not the main reason for our existance. And my why could be a lot different from the answers I am looking for during my life.

I tend to use the word ‘why’, and many other words to refine any answer given to me. And I tend to use the word ‘why’ for things, happening in my life. Not as a victim, like ‘why is this happening to me?’, but particularily, what is the lesson in it for me? What should I learn from all those events passing on in my life?

What is my why?

I don’t know.

What is your why?

And why do you think it yours.  Would you like to share it with me?

  1. I was always looking for the reason for my being and then I read earlier this year something a woman who had to go to a dead-threatening ordeal said; “I don’t need a reason for my existence, I am the reason”. To me, so profound. Since then, I care so much less what other think of me. I know, when I look in the mirror, I can look at myself straight, no burdens/bad things on my conscience. (geen slecht geweten)
And I always have in my mind the poem of Toon Hermans:
    Toon Hermans

Of course I am human and therefore I have flaws, to me that is a fact. However, happiness is a choice, as is love. Every morning I wake up and think: going to make it happen again today.

    That is my ‘why’.

    Big hug,
